The inside of a 1911 slide suffers a lot of wear and tear, but honing the critical part creates a smoother surface, reducing friction and wear. The treated surface features a beautiful shine and will be more corrosion resistant because the treatment actually increases the metal’s ability to hold oil and lubricants. Hones are available in a medium 400 grit or a fine 800 grit.
